If you’ve been charged with driving under the influence (DUI), the consequences are so severe that working with legal representation is the only way to ensure that you can mitigate the repercussions as they apply to your record, your driving privileges, and other areas of your life. In particular, a DUI charge that is a second or subsequent offense, or has resulted in a personal injury or death, can result in severe consequences for your record and life in Highland.
At Tanzillo Stassin & Babcock, P.C., we assist many clients who have been stopped for minor (sometimes even questionable) traffic violations and/or who have been arrested under DUI charges that can be questionable, such as bordering on the legal limit, or deemed to be inebriated based on the officer’s judgment (while under the influence of their own prescription medication). Our DUI lawyers in Highland have represented clients accused of their first DUI, as well as those who are facing severe life consequences as the result of subsequent convictions. We are here to help. If you’ve been arrested for and charged with a DUI, speaking with an experienced attorney should be your first step. You and your attorney, first and foremost, will need to figure out if/how you will request and handle a hearing, as your license will be suspended (for at least six months for a first offense if you failed a breath, blood, or urine test; or one year if you refused to take the test). It is possible for your charges to be reduced to reckless driving, in which case your driving privileges are unaffected. Otherwise, your driving privileges are revoked and you could be facing jail time (amongst other penalties).
The consequences can also be particularly severe even for a first time DUI charge, for example, if you caused an accident which resulted in personal injury or death to someone. If you have two or more previous DUI charges, you can be convicted of a felony DUI, which carries significant jail time and license suspension. In addition, if you are convicted of a second DUI, you must drive with a Restricted Driving Permit and a Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device once you are legally allowed to drive again.
Our skilled attorneys have years of legal experience in assisting clients with DUI cases. We know and understand all sides of the system like no other criminal defense law firm.
We handle all types of criminal defense cases with professionalism and tenacity for clients in Highland and the surrounding areas. Contact us to schedule a consultation.
